Destination Dallas: Where Mass Market Retailers Will Go to Spot Hot Products for 2013

September 18, 2012 | In just two weeks, Dallas, Texas will become a critical hub for global toy retailers gathering to see the hottest new toys and games for Holiday 2013. Fall Toy Preview pre-registration numbers released today by the Toy Industry Association (TIA) show a 20% jump in international buyers, with spikes in buyers from Canada (+40%), the United Kingdom (+30%) and Mexico (+11%) expected at the October 2-4, 2012 show.

To date, a record-breaking 345 exhibiting companies are signed on to showcase their latest product lines more than a year in advance of in-store delivery to more than 700 buyers at the Dallas Market Center, including delegations from powerhouse outlets such as Amway Global, Bed Bath & Beyond, Build-a-Bear Workshop, GameStop, Sam’s Club and Walmart.com. As of press time, 19 of the Top 25 Toy Sellers in the world accounting for more than US$16 billion in annual toy sales are already registered to attend. [View updated roster of registered retailers]

According to Joan Wyche, TIA director of buyer relations and attendee services, buyer registration will continue to increase in the days leading up to the show.
“If previous years are any indication, we are expecting to see another spike in buyer registration, as we’ve typically seen a week or so before Fall Toy Preview opens its doors,” explained Wyche.

Business deals will be met with plenty of networking opportunities, including a chance to mingle with colleagues and have some fun at the Fall Toy Preview opening night party. Held on the evening of Tuesday, October 2nd, proceeds from the party will benefit the Toy Industry Foundation; tickets are $25 each. TIF is encouraging its Leaders Circle members to proudly display their pins at the reception.

Owned and operated by TIA, Fall Toy Preview is an essential stop in the planning cycle for long-lead and mass market retailers.
