The Toy Show, RDS Dublin, 18-20 November

The Toy Show 2011 is over!

We had a very successful three days in the RDS Dublin from 18th - 20th November. Over 25, 000 people visited the show and we saw plenty of children having a ball!

A big thank you to everyone who provided entertainment throughout the weekend. There were some great acts on our Live Stage including juggling shows from Street Theatre Ireland, young singer Zena Donnelly, the Dawson McDonnell Dancers, Brian Daly Magician, Kids Party Club Puppet Show, New Irish Boy Band Element, Beauella and Paul the Magician.

We also had some great entertainment off stage with a warm welcome provided on Saturday and Sunday mornings from the Blanchardstown Brass Band. We had a Gospel choir take over the wrestling ring on Saturday afternoon, while on Sunday, The Twitters sang Irish Folk songs for children. Thanks to all three for raising money for the ISPCC!

Imaginosity provided free Arts and Crafts for all age groups throughout the weekend and the Little Gym took care of a soft play area for young toddlers. At the Chill Out Zone, children and parents lounged on bean bags, enjoyed some coloring or played with the bottom-lit sand box. ColourSplash made hundreds (if not thousands) of balloon sculptures over the weekend, putting lots of smiles on faces and the Wrestlers from Irish Whip Wrestling kept the older kids entrhralled with their in-the-ring antics!

Thanks to our many toy exhibitors, including Toysonline, Musnik, Hand Made Toys 4 U, Vintage Kids, Argos, Sensational Kids, Simply Signing, Movie Toy Den, Hat Trick Toys, Siyu toys,Birthday Gifts 4 Children, Back from the Future, Babog Baby,Cina toys, Little Gifts, Equestrian Books, Sports Ink, Kids Party Club, Waterbabies, Imaginarium, Dublin City Comics, Turbo Spoke, Simply Toys and many, many more.

Other stands included the Dublin Wax Museum, Dublin Zoo and Sunway Travel who kindly provided the prize of a family holiday to lapland, run in conjunction with FM104.

We would like to extend an extra special thanks to Clare and all the young volunteer staff from Little Sitters who tirelessly painted hundreds of young faces over the course of the weekend, took care of the toy demo tables, the buggy park and the mother and baby areas. You guys were amazing, you worked so hard, thank you!

The Toy show is aware that at times, the Main Hall was very crowded and the queue to see Santa was very long. We are looking at hosting the event in a much larger hall in 2012 which will go a long way in facilitating the many small people in buggies and ensuring that the day is enjoyable for all. We would like to thank everyone who visited Santa (free of charge) and gave a donation to the ISPCC - they raised several thousands of euro for young Irish Children who need help this Christmas. A special thanks to Argos who donated all of their dispay toys to the ISPCC after the event.
